Where Patong falls short

- Bra and undergarment integration. If you wear a specific strapless or convertible bra, bring it to fittings. Tailors are good at working around what you wear; they can’t guess.
How to find women-friendly tailors
Not every Patong tailor has equal experience with women’s tailoring. Four signals of a shop that will serve you well:
1. Female cutter or female measurement staff
Having a female tailor or fitter on staff matters, women often feel more comfortable being measured by another woman, particularly around the chest and hips. Ask during your call or first walk-in: “Do you have a female fitter available?”
2. Women’s portfolio on display
The sample jackets and dresses in the showroom should include women’s styles. If you see only men’s suits, you’re in a men’s-focused shop (they may still do women’s, but it’s not core).
3. Review profile mentions women’s orders
Scan the Google reviews. If reviews from women talking about dresses, blouses, and women’s suits appear in the recent feed, the shop actively serves women. If every review is a man talking about a two-piece, it’s a men’s-focused shop.
4. Bust, waist and hip measurement expertise
Good women’s tailoring requires at least 24 measurements (more than men’s). Shops that only take 15 numbers for a woman are using a simplified block, fine for casual wear, not enough for fitted dresses.

- Back length (nape to waist).

Booking and planning
The same 5-day standard timeline applies to women’s orders. Complex occasion wear (dresses with beading, structured bodices) may need 6-7 days. Book your consultation early in your trip, especially for occasion wear where you need fittings and possibly re-fabric.
For first-time female customers, I recommend booking the first consultation as a 90-minute slot and coming with:
- A photo of a dress, suit or look you admire.
- Your preferred undergarments (especially if you need specific bra support).
- The shoes you’ll wear with the finished piece.
- A trusted second pair of eyes, partner, friend, mother, sister.
Remote ordering for returning customers
Once you’ve been fitted in person, we can make follow-up orders remotely. Returning customers often send us photos of dresses they want copied, we cross-reference your existing pattern, and we ship to Europe, North America, or Australia. Shipping is tracked, and minor tailoring after arrival can be done locally and reimbursed by us within reason.
